Kitchen is Installed

The principal reason for our just-completed 3 week Mirabel trip was to supervise the kitchen’s installation. We had wanted to schedule it for our first week so that we could use it for the remainder of our stay, but the earliest available date was during our last week. Boy, was that fortunate – we needed a full 2 weeks to see that the walls, plumbing and electrical were fully ready. With only a couple of hours to spare, we finished preparing a spot in the dining room for the “landing” of the kitchen’s delivery. And we had literally just finished the kitchen’s walls (painting) & floor (washing) when the installers arrived the next morning!

And arrive they did, like a tornado! We jumped out of the way as the husband and wife team quickly got down to it. What was scheduled to be a two day job, took only a single day. And a dining room full of boxes was transformed into pile of trash.

And the results exceeded our expectations! We love the new kitchen’s spacious feeling, its balance with the dining room, how the its style and color harmonizes with the remainder of the house & the new tile floor, how the newly extended wing wall separates it from the front door, how the front door’s arch is accentuated, …. And, best yet, it feels like it is going to function as a great kitchen.

And a few days later I was able to install the pendant lamps, soffit lights, and dining room chandelier. But unfortunately none of the lighting circuits were yet electrified, so all pictures are lit via temporary work lights. We can’t wait to return and start cooking!
